Phoenix: A Miraculous Recovery After a Vicious Attack
Celebrating 10 years of rescue: Phoenix (2022)
To celebrate our 10-year anniversary, we're revisiting a favorite rescue story from each year. In 2022, we took on our biggest medical case of the year: Phoenix, who suffered horrific wounds after being attacked by a pack of dogs.
Surviving on the streets
Phoenix is an example of just how brutal life on the streets can be for a homeless dog. While scavenging for food, Phoenix was viciously attacked by a pack of dogs. The attack left him with dozens of bite marks and such a horrific wound that much of his neck was missing.

Phoenix, the miracle dog
It’s amazing that he survived. Our veterinary partners estimated that the attack had occurred 10 days earlier. He had dead tissue, infections, and abscesses, in addition to being severely emaciated. We can’t imagine the pain he endured during that time!
He underwent emergency surgery and received antibiotics and pain medication. We are so grateful for our amazing medical partners who relieved him from his pain and gave him a second chance at life.

A forever family, at last
Phoenix recovered in our boarding partner’s home while waiting to find his forever home. It turns out he didn’t have to search far. Our boarding partner fell in love with his playful personality, resilient spirit, and stunning clear blue eyes. In 2023, they officially became a family!
Today, Phoenix is healed and thriving!
How you can help
None of this is possible without support from people like you. To celebrate 10 years of rescue, our goal is to raise $10,000 through our 10 for 10 Challenge. Every dollar will go directly toward lifesaving veterinary care, food, boarding, training, supplies, and the countless expenses that come with saying “yes” when a dog has nowhere else to turn.
Will you help us continue saving dogs like Phoenix so they can have the lives they deserve? Your generosity is the reason dogs like Phoenix get a second chance.
