Volunteer opportunities are constantly changing as we grow and develop new programs; but what doesn't change is your impact.

Our Volunteer Matching Team will be in contact with you within 72 hours of your application being submitted to help guide you to activities that best fit your commitment level, availability, and interests, all while helping us meet our organizational goals. Orientation will cover the goals and policies of the organization, as well as explain volunteer opportunities.


Volunteer Requirements

  • Treat all animals with kindness and concern for their welfare.

  • Represent themselves and TSDP in a professional manner and treat clients, staff, and other volunteers with respect.

Submit an online application (below), which includes signing a volunteer agreement and a Release and Waiver of Liability form.

  • Get matched by our Volunteer Matching Team.

  • Complete an online general volunteer orientation session.

  • Be able to work independently and meet the volunteer requirements – including the essential capabilities of our volunteers.

Types of Opportunities

Medical Lead

Responsibilities: Manage dogs’ medical plans including reviewing and verifying medical history records, itemized invoices, case notes from vets after each appointment, and updating medical plans as needed; supporting fosters with medical-related questions.

Requirements: Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, basic project management skills, ability to work remotely, and the abililty to be available on a daily basis. Experience as a pet owner and basic healthcare knowledge is a PLUS!

Time Commitment: 6-month minimum, minimum 5 hours per week.

Outreach & Event Assistance

Responsibilities: Help supervise the planning and execution of adoption, fundraising and special events such as booths at local festivals and community events to promote TSDPs message and community participation.

Requirements: Strong organizational and supervisory skills, enjoy working with people and pets, prior event planning experience preferred

Time Commitment: 10-15 hrs/month

Dog Marketing

We’re looking for:

Time Commitment: Flexible. 2-3 hrs/week

Animal Transport

Responsibilities: Transport volunteers use their personal vehicles to transport animals and/or supplies (i.e. rescue pick up, chauffeuring animals to/from medical or therapy visits, or helping with special event transport). Travel is primarily in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Requirements: Must have a reliable vehicle that is licensed and insured; the vehicle must have enough space for kenneled animals. Requires a valid driver’s license.

Time Commitment: Best suited for a flexible schedule.
