From the Highway to the Runway ✈️ : Sandie's Story

Former street dog Sandie now works as an esteemed therapy dog at DFW airport.

Love at first sight

Baby Sandie (formerly named Nutmeg) was rescued from the dangerous streets along with her mom and siblings. Her adopters instantly fell in love with her sweet face posted on The Street Dog Project’s site.

Sandie settling in nicely on the first night in her new home.

A very good girl and a very good citizen

After excelling at her obedience training, Sandie passed the American Kennel Club’s Good Citizen certification. This accolade recognizes that a dog is trained to be a good community member. In other words…Sandie is a certified good girl!

A pup with a purpose

Sandie then attended therapy training and joined Heart of Texas Therapy Dogs. Sandie provides peace and comfort at schools, memory care centers, rehab centers, and homeless facilities.

But her favorite place to visit is the DFW Airport, where she works as a K9 Ambassador. Sandie’s calm and loving demeanor is a comfort for stressed travelers.

Once homeless, Sandie now gives back to her community by sharing smiles and joy with everyone she meets!

Sandie, a bonafide good girl!

Help us save more lives like Sandie!
