Ella
Our beloved Ella has crossed the rainbow bridge.
We rescued Ella in June 2022 from the Dallas shelter, where she was scheduled to be euthanized that same day. She was found as a stray and covered in tumors. Ella quickly became one of our most complicated medical cases to date: heartworm positive, multiple cancer surgeries, severe skin allergies and infections, and even acnitic solar dermatitis — meaning she was allergic to the sun, despite absolutely loving to be outside.
Through it all, Ella never stopped fighting. She hit the jackpot with her foster mom, Lisa. From the beginning, Lisa knew Ella would end up being a hospice foster, but she still gave Ella the gift of a true home, love, and joy every single day. Because of Lisa, Ella lived over 2 incredible years longer than anyone thought possible!
We are not only forever grateful to Lisa, but also to Ella’s incredible medical team at CityVet – Addison, who did everything possible to improve her quality of life and give her the best chance at comfort.
Ella showed us all what resilience looks like. Medically, she should have left us long ago, but her will to live, her playful energy, and her spirit kept shining through. She endured so much without complaint, reminding us that it doesn’t matter the hand you’re dealt — it’s what you do with it that defines you.
Ella left this world peacefully, and now her pain is gone. We picture her running free, finally basking in the sun she loved so much. 🌞💛
Run free, sweet Ella ❤️
