Emmy's Story: A Fragile Life in Need of a Second Chance
Celebrating 10 years of rescue: Emmy (2019)
To celebrate our 10-year anniversary, we are featuring a favorite rescue story from each year. For 2019, we revisit Emmy, whose tiny body desperately needed urgent medical attention.
Sick and alone
The scary streets are no place for a homeless dog, let alone a 4-month-old puppy. A good Samaritan found Emmy alone, scared, starving, and extremely sick. Her sweet little face was swollen, and her tiny body was ravaged with demodex mange.
Medical care + love = a quick recovery
One of the best things about animal rescue is the resilient spirit that all dogs seem to have. Despite Emmy’s rough start to life, she bounced back after receiving proper medical care and a healthy dose of love. Her skin cleared, the swelling reduced, and the result was the happiest, friendliest puppy.
Emmy’s foster mom, Thao, was deeply moved by Emmy’s remarkable recovery. She realized that Emmy was meant to be a part of her family and officially adopted her in 2019.
A resounding yes
A lot of people had to say “yes” to rescue Emmy. The good Samaritian said “yes” to taking action. The medical team said "yes" to caring for her. Our community said “yes” to donating generously. And her foster mom said “yes” to opening up her home and heart. Because of the resounding yes, Emmy was able to spend her first birthday in a loving home. Yes!!
How you can help
None of this is possible without support from people like you. To celebrate 10 years of rescue, our goal is to raise $10,000 through our 10 for 10 Challenge. Every dollar will go directly toward lifesaving veterinary care, food, boarding, training, supplies, and the countless expenses that come with saying “yes” when a dog has nowhere else to turn.
Will you help us continue saving dogs like Emmy to give them the life they deserve? Your generosity is the reason dogs like Emmy get a second chance.
